As many readers of this blog know, Elaine Ash writes under the pen-name of Anonymous-9. A few years ago I wrote a short story called HARD BITE and have been working ever since to turn it into a novel. I asked for, and received, a lot of help from some terrific people every step of the way. A few weeks ago, the second draft was ready to show and went directly to a handful of publishers. Expecting instant rejection, the way would then be free and clear to self-publish. Or so I thought.
Allan Guthrie read the manuscript of HARD BITE, THE NOVEL in record time and sent along a contract from Blasted Heath. Now that the ink is dry, the truth can be told: The deal is e-book rights-only, a straight-up profit split based on a 2-book delivery and option clause for a third.
Allan started as an agent with Jenny Brown Associates, and he’s also a writer with several novels under his belt along with nominations for the Edgar, Anthony and Gumshoe awards. Allan’s partner, Kyle MacRae, handles all the technical aspects of digital publishing for BH and sent me a cheery note of welcome. Anonymous-9 will be a full-fledged Blasted Heath author along with Douglas Lindsay, Ray Banks, Anthony Neil Smith (my former editor at Plots With Guns), Gary Carson, Damien Seaman, Brian Pendreigh and Gerard Brennan.

Wonderful, wonderful news Elaine. I thrilled for you – congratulations on this important step!

I’m delighted for you. I’ve read Hard Bite in proofs and I can see instantly why they grabbed it in record time.
It’s a really, really good read with sharp, memorable characters, wild action, and a satisfying punch at the end. This book is going to take you places.
When’s the next one? Pant. Pant.

Awww, thanks everybody. It’ll be about a month until I’m up on the Blasted Heath site as one of their authors. There’s a polish due on the ms and we’re planning the promotional campaign now. Wish you all were here so we could party down.
