Gary Phillips and Brian Hurt – COWBOYS for Vertigo Crime

Filed under: Uncategorized — ashedit @ 2:06 pm

Writer GARY PHILLIPS and artist BRIAN HURTT will host a book signing and discussion of their latest GRAPHIC NOVEL COWBOYS at the Eso Won Bookstore

4331 Degnan Boulevard, Leimert Park, Los Angeles 90008

(323) 290-1048.

In Cowboys (DC/Vertigo), Deke Kotto is a make-up-the-rules as- you-go black plainclothes cop who goes undercover in a high profile case.  On the other end of that case, straight-laced white FBI agent Tim Brady also goes ‘submarine.’  Each is unknown to the other as events conspire to propel these men, who must cowboy up at the critical time, toward a firey climax.

Gary Phillips

Said the Nerd of Noir on Spinetingler – “As written by Gary Phillips (The Jook) and drawn by Brian Hurtt (The Sixth Gun), Cowboys is truly a no-bullshit western in the Budd Boetticher/Randolph Scott tradition only set in the modern day.”

Thank you so much Alex Nagorski and William Dennis of DC Comics. You guys rock! — Elaine Ash
