Motorama Car Show

Filed under: Uncategorized — ashedit @ 6:27 am

Crime fiction and noir love getaway cars, hotrods, beaters, suburban sedans–the list is wide and varied. Curiosity piqued, I attended my first Motorama show held in Long Beach, CA the weekend of October 1 & 2, 2011,  billed as “Car Display Dioramas & Showcase of Kustoms.” I didn’t touch the grammar of the last sentence because the more you play with it, the worse it gets. Sort of like some of the kustom rods that were there, BUT some gems were seen, it was a lovely day by the sea, and a good time was had by all. A big thank you to the colorfully-dressed ladies who cheerfully posed for the camera.

  4. Those cars really brought back some wonderful memories. Back when music had lyrics that didn’t need deciphering, chicks were hot and guys were oh so cool with their ducktails and their packs of smokes rolled into the arm of their tees.

  5. I wish I had taken more photos. They had some very cool machines outside around the park as well. A few magnificent Thunderbirds. And yes, the people at the show were as interesting to look at as the cars.

  6. Some fine rides on display there. The Vette is a real gem. American Graffiti is still one of my all-time fav movies. Any 70’s era cars on display? The new versions of the Camaro and the Challenger are pretty cool. Wish they would bring back the Barracuda now.

  9. Hi Sean. Oscar and Al! I, too, long for the Barracuda. They did have 70s cars outside and I was too braindead to take pics at that stage. I only hauled out the camera at the final stages. Love those 70s rides.

  10. Going to have to watch Dirty Mary Crazy Larry now. Jay Gatsby’s ride was a real looker as well.
